Contact Lenses

Types of Contacts We Offer

Elite Vision Consultants is proud to offer a variety of contact lenses at our Crown Point eye clinic. Patients know when they receive prescription lenses from our practice that they have a high-quality solution to vision correction.

We offer a large range of options from trustworthy contact lenses brands. The types that we offer are as follows.

Scleral Lenses

Elite Vision Consultants is one of only a few optometry offices in Northwest Indiana to offer scleral contact lens technology.  Scleral lenses are large-diameter, rigid gas permeable lenses that can be used in patients with a variety of ocular conditions. Examples of these conditions include keratoconus, dry eye syndrome, and post-surgical complications. These types of corneal disturbances provide highly irregular vision. Scleral lenses are used to mask this irregularity and allow for clearer vision by providing a smooth front surface through which light can enter the eye.

Patients with conditions that affect the tear film can benefit from scleral contacts, as well. Patients with refractive errors, nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism who are unable to wear other forms of correction could also benefit.

Rigid Gas Permeable Lenses

Also known as RGP or GP lenses, rigid gas permeable contacts are made with durable plastic. This allows oxygen to easily pass through the lenses. Oxygen is important for the cornea to stay healthy. These lenses are also lightweight and shatter-resistant.

Multifocal Soft Contact Lenses

Did you know that multifocal soft contact lenses exist? These are ideal for wearers older than 40. These individuals tend to have presbyopia, which makes it hard to focus on near objects. Multifocal soft contact lenses, which are often similar to bifocal glasses, eliminate the need to wear reading glasses over one’s contact lenses.

Orthokeratology Contacts

Orthokeratology lenses are put on before the wearer goes to sleep at night. After waking up in the morning, the lenses are removed. The wearer can enjoy clear vision all day without wearing contacts or glasses.
